Essential Documentation
In addition to the permit royalty, all expeditions must appoint a government Liaison Officer and pay a refundable garbage deposit. From September 2025, a licensed guide is mandatory for every two climbers on peaks above 8,000m. For Trekking Peaks, applications are handled directly by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
